A flock of finches flew into our front yard today.
They flitted and fed on the Salvia and Wax-leaf Privet
Chirping their distinctive finch call
Frolicking amidst the branches
Nibbling sweet flowers and seeds
On their way to some unknown southern destination
Their feathers displayed in shades of quiet gray
Unassuming, blend-in, travel plumage
They stayed only a few minutes
The sun was warm, the sky so blue
Frenzied activity, then all was calm.
