Blue

Jet plane screams above

Sky blue, clean of clouds

 

Fuzzy sweater, baby blue, knobby with lint

Pulled from the dryer, static sparks

 

Wisps of blue smoke, gas flame fired hot

Icy blue glaciers calving, chilly air

 

Blue jays swooping, burst of feathers

Iridescent blue plays on hummingbird’s throat, catches the sun

 

Blueberries picked fresh, still warm, explode on my tongue

Blackberry pie, flakey crust oozing sweet blue, tints vanilla ala mode

 

Midnight blue, silky, dotted with stars

Inky blue, stubborn, stains my fingers
