Landslide
This poem was originally written at the Sea-Tac Airport in 2014 in response to the landslide in Oso, Washington that destroyed an entire neighborhood and killed 43 people. This last weekend, many are demonstrating at airports around in the country in response to an executive order that has severely impacted hundreds of people.
Landslide
Too much rain and too much thunder
Sturdy bones sawn asunder
Sinews ripped and strewn above
Boulders tumbling under grass, roots aloft
Majestic trees shredded and torqued
Dirty rapids running filthy
A mountain splintered and twisted
Homes entombed, lives lost
Clouds dripping, heavy with tears
